Trip #3 was another early morning trip. I first started out on Raptor then moved onto Millennium Force.
Then it was onto a new ride, well at least for me, Mantis.
Mantis was OK, nothing special it hurt, but not too bad. It’s a little uneasy at the end where it goes slow, especially since it rolled back a few weeks earlier.
Then with the park just opening, Dragster had the shortest line it was going to have all day so I jumped in line and what did I find? Someone throwing up! What a wonderful start to their day and mine.
After the Dragster, which didn’t give me a headache this time, I headed to the CP & LE Railroad. I took a loop around the park then got off to go to the Skyride so I could head out to the car for lunch.
After lunch, I headed over to the Wicked Twister midway, like I always seem to do after a lunch break. I rode the Giant Wheel and it seemed like the ride cycle was shorter than normal, am I the only one noticing this? Then, with it being almost 2pm, I headed over to the Jack Aldrich “Centennial” Theatre for Rock Band Live.
The show overall was decent, not something that I’m going to see every time, but I could see Cedar Point losing the Rock Band branding, adding more songs and then renaming it to some Rock and Roll name.
Just my thoughts, but the actors from last year’s show that returned this year had done much better work in the past. (Sorry Jordan and Stephan, but it’s the truth.)
After Rock Band Live, I headed down the midway to the Cadillac Cars where the “bring-the-car-in-girl” asked me about if I was disappointed that Shoot the Rapids wasn’t open because I was wearing the shirt. I said “yes” because who wouldn’t be disappointed when there now #1 favorite ride is closed! After that I went to my favorite show for the 2010 season, Tropical Heat, Island Beat.
Over the winter I had been listening to Hot Island Rhythms from Kings Island and was hoping that Cedar Point would get a show like that and guess what, they did! The show was great as usually and the performers are really getting into the show.
With the 1/2 hour and hour show time differences, I had time to check out Shoot the Rapids. The ride was empty of water and there seemed to be no one working on it.
After that, I finished my walk over to the Palace Theatre where I saw Grand Ole Country which is another great Cedar Point show that always makes me feel like going to Lone Star to eat!
When the show was over I headed down the Gemini midway to ride Paddlewheel Excursions where I got called out for wearing my Shoot the Rapids shirt. The guys asked me what the new ride was because of course I was probably the only person walking around the park in a shirt for a ride that isn’t even open yet! I told him, like he didn’t know ;D and he made some joke about how that light pole is the only thing new that’s working.
I then decided to take a break from the rides part of the park and I headed out to the beach to cool off my feet.
I ended up getting the bottom of my shorts soaked in the process, but it the ripped sand in the lake felt good on my feet.
After coming in from the beach I went on Ocean Motion because who know how long that ride is going to be around (#cp211). After Ocean Motion, I noticed that the 7pm All Wheels Extreme had started and decided to stop and watch.
After the show it was time to call it a day and I left the park and headed to Costa Azul for dinner. What an amazing day at the point!

Trip #2 started out around two in the afternoon. I started out on the Magnum, which had a surprising short wait of only 15 minutes.
Then it was on to one of my favorite rides, Paddlewheel Excursions.
Trying a second time to get pictures of the back of Shoot the Rapids, failed because my new camera wasn’t made to point and shoot a million times in a minute.
Then, I took a quick ride on the Gemini and Cedar Creek Mine Ride to stall so I could make it early to the 4 o’clock Grand Ole Country.
After Grand Ole Country, which is a great show, I took the train around a few times to take a look at Shoot the Rapids.
Then, it was onto Tropical Heat, Island Beat, which is the best show in the park this year.
After the show I took a stroll down the Frontier Trail, visited Charlie Brown’s cabin, and took a peek at Shoot the Rapids. But, guess who I found sneaking a ride, Tony and Tyler. They are two very lucky people. Then a quick dinner break at the car, and then back to Shoot the Rapids for more pictures.
Yes, I really do love this ride, even though I can’t ride it yet! Then it was onto the Hot Summer Lights midway for a ride on the Iron Dragon and Wildcat. After that, I headed over to the Wicked Twister midway to ride Wicked Twister and Troika.
I waited in line for Disaster Transport up until the top of the stairs when the ride broke down from mechanical reasons.
With the park closing soon, I headed over to see the Starlight Experience for the first time this season. I personally think that adding rope light to some of the signs made it look unprofessional. Also, with the addition of Shoot the Rapids, it opened up a lot of the area, not as dark as last years.
That was it for my day, got plenty of rides in for it being a busy Memorial Day weekend.

- Magnum XL 200 x1
- Paddlewheel Excursions x1

Opening day started out with me arriving too late for the opening ceremony, why didn’t someone tell me they had one?
After that I headed past the Raptor and to Millennium Force, which was broken down, then to Maverick, which was also broken down.
So, then I decided to stop at Shoot the Rapids to take some quick pictures.
Then I went to the Iron Dragon which was my first coaster of the 2010 season. Then I back tracked to Raptor and got off just in time to see the “running of the bulls”. After managing my way through the crowds I went to ride the Corkscrew, the Magnum XL 200, and the Gemini.
Heading into Frontier Town, I rode the Antique Carsand then headed to Shoot the Rapids to take pictures of everything and film the testing of Shoot the Rapids.
I also saw @coasterhq taking some pictures for his site: Coaster HQ. I then decided to take the train back to the main midway and then the Skyride to the car for lunch at the same time @thelostcoaster was having lunch at his car.
While waiting in line for the Skyride I saw someone familiar:
(Dick Kinzel, Cedar Fair CEO)
After lunch, I returned to the park and it just doesn’t sound the same without the Demon Drop.
I then power walked to the Iron Dragon midway to see the Ohio State Spring Athletic Band perform.
Then it was on to Paddlewheel Excursions to get an up close look at Shoot the Rapids.
I then did a little shopping in Frontier Town before taking the train back to the front for Tropical Heat, Island Beat.
After that I walked over to the Wicked Twister midway for the Space Spiral which now features Tony’s voice. After buying a Shoot the Rapids shirt and magnet, the crowds pushed me out.
That was my Opening Day 2010 trip, short but fun filled after A LONG winter!

After a quick lunch at Costa Azul, it was on to the park to ride Paddlewheel Excursions to check out the mystery construction site, but first a quick ride on the Skyride.
Then it was onto the Cedar Creek Mine Ride and then, because it was almost time for Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I went to get on the train. Although, I got “sidetracked” into the Live Music in the Palace while I waited for the train to come.
After Signed, Sealed, Delivered it was time for dinner at the car. Then it was onto the Wicked Twister Midway to ride the Space Spiral, Giant Wheel, maXair for my first and last time, and Troika.
After that it was onto part two of the Starlight Experience behind the scenes.
Later, I rode the Antique Cars and then went through the Starlight Experience during the best time, after dark.
After a little shopping, it was time to end the day.
